there be句型中的就近原则主要是针对其后有由and连接的两个主语的情况下，“be”动词的形式是单数还是复数即是“is”还是“are”。

There be A and B. 可以翻译为“有A和B”

“Be”的形式就由与它相近的A决定，如果A是单数形式，那么“be”动词就用“is”；如果A是复数形式，那么“be”动词就用“are”。

There is a book and three cats. 

有一本书和三只猫

There are three cats and a book.

There is a boy and five girls on the playground.
